Party-owned Global Times has reported that Chinese users have lost faith in domestic search giant Baidu’s services due to “scam ads,” adding that experts are calling for a return to China of Google’s search engine.

黨報(bào)《環(huán)球時(shí)報(bào)》報(bào)道，由于“詐騙廣告”，中國用戶對國內(nèi)搜索巨頭百度的服務(wù)失去了信心，并補(bǔ)充說，專家們呼吁谷歌的搜索引擎回歸中國。

The report came after Yan Feng, a professor at prestigious Fudan University in Shanghai, accused Baidu of promoting scam ads that doubled his visa cost on China’s Twitter-like Weibo.

此前，上海復(fù)旦大學(xué)(Fudan University)教授嚴(yán)峰指責(zé)百度在中國推特微博上發(fā)布詐騙廣告，使他的簽證成本增加了一倍。

The Global Times article comes amid international controversy over Google’s plans to return to China, a market it left in 2010.

In August, People’s Daily — the parent publication of Global Times — published a commentary welcoming Google back to the Chinese mainland, although “it must comply with Chinese law.” People’s Daily’s commentary was later removed, Bloomberg reported.

今年8月，《環(huán)球時(shí)報(bào)》的母公司《人民日報(bào)》發(fā)表了一篇評論，聲稱歡迎谷歌回歸中國大陸，不過“它必須遵守中國法律”。據(jù)彭博社報(bào)道，《人民日報(bào)》的評論隨后被刪除。
